It's the first harbour and the second city of Chile, With almost 280 000 inhabitants.
Founded in 1544, Valparaiso had for first vocation to be the harbour of the capital, Santiago. In 1730 there was only one hundred of houses but 4 churches
The harbour declined with the opening of the Panama Canal
Among the famous personalities from Valparaiso, we find Salvador Allende and Augusto Pinochet.
